I have a saying in life, “To Change your world you change your mind. With new thoughts comes new FREEDOMS and with new FREEDOMS come true happiness.”
This quote emerged as a result of change. Each time I shifted my thinking, it unlocked my future.
Many years ago, I was looking out of my harbor apartment window when God opened my eyes to be able to see the cracks in the pavement below. He described to me that society is cracking, meaning coming apart. Today we see chasms in that same pavement. At that point God spoke again and said, “Buy a tent.”
Going from an apartment at the harbor to a tent is a drastic change. We become accustomed to the walls that confine us and the communities we’ve established. Nevertheless, there was a void of happiness felt deep within my gut. Titles, possessions, and communities were mine, but happiness remained elusive.
I fulfilled the Lord’s request by buying the tent and becoming His follower.
It’s only when we have to journey back to find what we’ve lost that we truly comprehend how far we’ve strayed from God’s Garden. The purpose of our journey on earth is to regain what we have inherited from the Garden of God. The journey must be experienced. All journeys are different so don’t think you have to go out and buy a tent. That was my journey!
The happiness I’m discussing came little by little. Or as the Lord puts it line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little (Isaiah 28:10-11). The happier I became, the more I overcame “my own self”. By overcoming “my own self” I refer to any thoughts that has placed itself above God. I found myself being the very idol that God cautions us against. Putting oneself first is what pride does.
Being brought down to a level where I could see eye to eye with the maker of the universe was a truly humbling experience. Humble yourself before the Lord and He will exult you (James 4:10). In due course I was lifted up through the humbling process. I am constantly filled with a sense of freedom and happiness nowadays, which has replaced the void that once lived inside.
I walk with the Lord with my hand open. Meaning, I don’t hold on to things. When we hold on to things, we get sick and the battle to cause you to LET GO is extreme. Everything God does, He does it for you and me!
The changing of hands is where the world is at. God allowed the cup of iniquity to be filled and now it’s time for His Kingdom to reign on earth. So LET GO and trust God is in control, not you.
We feel strength when we are in control, but in my experience, vulnerability is where true strength can be found. The Lord comes in our weaknesses and causes His strength to live in us.
He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weaknesses. “Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).
Let Go and trust He has the plan! You don’t need a plan. God will roll out His plan daily if you trust in Him. That was a hard thing to get used to. To have no plan and let God be in control of the plan was FREEING.
Today I walk with Him side by side. Talking in the cool of the day about His plans. My plans faded away because I trusted, “He knows the beginning from the end”.
